Tournament Mission

The Chapter Championship provides a fun and educational opportunity for our members to participate in tournament-style competition and apply the golf and life skill lessons they are developing in their weekly classes.

TEE TIME Format

New this year, the Chapter Championship is scheduled with “tee time” starts, so groups of 2-4 players will be assigned a “tee time” every 10 minutes, beginning with the division start time. Please check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your tee time.

Please note your preferred “tee time” in your registration form. Tee times will be scheduled for approximately the first two hours of each division time, depending on the size of the field. For instance, “tee times” in the 9:00am division will be 9:00, 9:10, 9:20, 9:30, 9:40… 10:50am. Tournament play and proceedings for PLAYer, Par, Birdie divisions takes about 90-120 minutes.

Entry Fee

The entry fee is just a suggested $5 for the Chapter Championship, which helps us cover the costs of greens fees, trophies, awards, etc. However, cost should never be a barrier to entry, so upon submission of your registration form, you will have the chance to contribute any amount of your choice.

Parent & Guardian Roles

Typically, families and friends are welcome to join us for the Chapter Championship. But this season, we must limit gatherings and we will provide more information closer to the event. Likely that each player will be allowed to have between 1-3 spectators. Please review below and determine if you will be a spectator, a caddie, or a walking scorer.

Spectators: Having galleries for the tournament can make it a fun and exciting atmosphere for players, and enhance the experience for everyone. We ask that you keep a distance of 25 yards at all times (per WJGA rules).

Caddies: in the PLAYer group only, ONE person per player is permitted to provide assistance with equipment management and scoring if deemed the player’s caddie, but those not designated as the caddie are designated as a spectator. Caddies can be parents, guardians, siblings, friends… whoever the player chooses!

Walking Scorers: We will try to have one official “walking scorer” per group. This adult will keep a separate scorecard for the group. Players report their score to you on each hole. At the end of the round, your scorecard is then used to verify each of the players’ cards.

For all adults who plan to be on the golf course, as spectator, caddie, or walking scorer, please plan to participate in the orientation 5-10 minutes before the shotgun time and sendoff, when we’ll cover general expectations, rules of play, and special instructions.

As a sidenote, and in the interest of developing confidence and skills for life, we encourage parents to take an intentional role with their son or daughter. To start, we recommend that all parents and guardians watch this video: “Golf Parent for the Future” – (10 min. Pia Nilsson & Lynn Marriot). Vision 54 is an industry leader in the theories golf skill development for all ages, with the goal being the pursuit of the perfect round: in score, enjoyment, and application for the future. Pia and Lynn were also instrumental in the development of The First Tee curriculum taught in each of our classes.
